Artist Statement
For this assignment we had to pick from a list of typefaces and create a Type Specimen Book. A type specimen is a booklet that demonstrates the range of a typeface, applied to headlines and text in a variety of sizes. The book needed to include a history of the font, the entire font family, type anatomy (characteristics), scale, and alignment, body copy samples and examples of use in the world. This project taught me a lot more about typography that I had imagined. The use of everyday type in the world is something we do not always pay attention to but this assignment has opened my eyes to looking for it in things that I engage in on a daily basis.
